So, the It Came From The Nerd Cave family was out doing some pickin’ and a thriftin’ yesterday morning. Stopped by a local thrift store and made a bee-line to the book section. As part of my efforts to expand my knowledge base (shout out to my brother-in-law for teaching me that phrase), I’ve been keeping an eye out for books on collectibles, antiques, and misc. stuff–price guides and such. And while I’m not a coin collector and don’t plan to become one, I noticed a 1984 Coin Values book and picked it up.
As is my habit when buying used books, I always give the pages a quick flip to make sure the binding is secure and there’s a minimum of scribbling–especially since I got a copy of the AD&D Dungeoneer’s Survival Guide a few years ago off eBay with EVERY illustration hand colored in crayon. So, you can imagine my surprise and fist-pumping glee when I peruse the coin book and find four two-dollar bills nestled snuggly among the pages. Only paid .50 cents for the book, by the way. Sold “as is” I believe the sign says. Okay by me!
A few minutes later, I found a 1964 edition of the same book. No cash tucked inside though. But you can bet your bippy I’ll be flipping though any future price guides I run across. Until next time, stay nerdy my friends.

Love them two-bills – nice illustration of the signing on the back!
And did I mention they were FREE?
