Always on the lookout for new Nerd Cave decor, I happened upon this little item on a recent trip to my friendly neighborhood Hobby Lobby.

Earth In My Room

     Earth In My Room is an apparently new companion to Moon In My Room from Uncle Milton Toys.  My son already has the Moon in his room and it’s very cool.  I figured the Earth would look pretty good hanging over the Nerd Cave’s door so I picked it up.  EIMR is priced at $32.99 (at least at Hobby Lobby), but my handy, dandy 40% off coupon dropped it down to a more “down to Earth,” $19.83.

     Once home, you just pop in the batteries (4xAA for the Earth and 2xAAA for the remote control) and you’re ready to hang it.  If you’re familiar with the Moon in Your Room, then you know it lights up and looks pretty darn close to the real thing.  Just like it’s cousin, the Earth in Your Room also lights up, showing the city lights of North and South America. While much more subtle than the green cheese glow of the Moon, it’s still pretty neat. To save batteries, the unit has an automatic shut-off function that kicks in after 30 minutes.

     So there. I highly recommend the Earth In My Room if you’re looking for something cool and different to hang on your wall.  As for me, I’ll eagerly await Jupiter In My Room.
